Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Brightside is a read-only news app. We take your privacy seriously and collect as little data as possible.

What we collect

Brightside does not collect any personally identifiable information. The app does not require an account, login, or any personal details to use.

When you react to or share a story, anonymous aggregate counts are stored (e.g. "this story received 10 heart reactions"). These counts are not linked to any individual user or device.

What we don't collect

We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or any other personal data. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Third-party services

Brightside uses the following third-party services to operate:

Supabase — our backend database and storage provider. News content and anonymous reaction counts are stored here. See Supabase's privacy policy.

Anthropic — used to generate news summaries. No user data is sent to Anthropic. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

Google Imagen — used to generate illustrations. No user data is sent to Google. See Google's privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
